Cover Letter Helper is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to any external servers owned by us.

• Local Storage: Your OpenAI API key, professional profile (name, profession, focus), and cover letter history are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage or synced via your Google account (Chrome Sync). We never see or have access to this data.
• Job Data: When you generate a cover letter, the extension reads the job title, company name, and job description from the active tab. This data is processed only to construct the prompt for the AI.

2. Third-Party Services

To provide its core functionality, the extension interacts with the following third-party service:

• OpenAI: The job description and your profile details are sent to OpenAI's API to generate the cover letter. This process is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy. We use your own API key to ensure you maintain control over your usage and data.

3. Permissions

The extension requires the following permissions to function:

• activeTab: Used to detect and extract job details from the page you are currently viewing.
• storage: Used to save your settings and cover letter history locally so they are available next time you use the extension.

4. Data Retention

All data remains on your device until you choose to delete it. You can clear your history or reset your settings at any time within the extension popup.
